Dear All,
Sean: SiPM temperature study
- single pixel peak analysis upcoming (UIUC student)
- would be nice to chill ECW going through EMCal from 18 C down to 10 C; independent system?
From Eric:
- bias modules hopefully back soon from manufacturer
- bent pins one digitizer crate: they were going to install it; Eric out tomorrow, power up boards
- Dan Lis: test
- Anthony's talk
- dead areas are ADCs; Eric is working on this with Anthony and Sean; will reach out to HCal group if they need more help
Emma: meeting with Chi to repair electronics
mostly to learn how to run different tests for electronics boards
- compile spare board that are available
- compile list of hot channels and decide what needs to be replaced
Hanpu: gain balancing
- machinery exists for HCal and has been successfully tested last run
- Blair: do with 1-h cosmics run
- iHCal: Hanpu will analyze recent cosmics data to see how much data would be needed
- EMCal: gain balancing should be based on pi0 peak position; this can be combined with HCal software to find bias offset
- goal is to balance gains of both calorimeters next run
Martin:
- should take stock of what we believe and what we actually know
- e.g., "bit flip is configuration issue" (Martin thinks it's not.)
- come up with compendium of slides for documentation
- analysis note or rather wiki page
- created "Calorimeter" wiki page and linked to it from HCal page:

Here are the minutes from today’s meeting (also on indico).
We decided to have the meetings after the calibrations meeting, starting next Monday with two talks already on the agenda: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/20840/
Best regards,
Stefan

Minutes Oct 11 Calo Commissioning Meeting
• Meeting after calibrations meeting (maybe bi-weekly?), separate agenda
• Only calo experts, not EMCal vs HCal
• HCal support during shutdown to assist TPC
• Sharing among experts
• Invite sEPD, ZDC/SMD, MBD
• ADC repair re hot towers: meeting: Columbia, Colorado, Chi
• LED: Silas, Munir (see Monday’s calibration meeting), JaeBeom in touch with Munir regarding hot towers in LED → analysis discussion in calibrations meeting; link to Munir's talk from Oct 9: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/20787/contributions/81778/attachments/50288/86003/LED%20Analysis%20Oct%209th.pptx
• Also talk by Emma from Sep 25: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/20659/contributions/81211/attachments/49967/85510/hcal_hot_towers_9_25.pdf
• Find references and add to this agenda
• Regular running of LED, TP, pedestal for both HCal and EMCal once per week (starting once ADC repair is done?) and discuss hardware health in this meeting
• HCal hardware in good shape, no repairs needed (modulo ADC)
• Hardware related pathologies in EMCal→future presentation by Anthony
• EMCal South High Rapidity: plan for instrumentation?
• Eric: sEPD order coming in, but not sure whether there will be enough boards
• Coming in mid to late October (see Eric’s summary to DAQ list)
• sEPD needs 12 boards, probably ordered 16, have 8 spares (makes total of 24), need 16 to complete high eta region, so should have enough; so the question is about repairs/replacements/spares
• No contract in place to build more boards
• Bill: should be available for Run 3, but not Run 2
• Eric: EMCal: one ADC crate with broken backplane (3C1, crate 3; i.e. NorthEast) will be replaced
• Sean analyzing controller data (temperature)-->present
• Anthony: lowered SiPM cooling as a test to see whether single pixel peak can be re-gained→need analyzer (have code): UIUC
• Gain balancing→talk to Hanpu
• Track task link from previous meetings: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PGq8SnaneIhQNIBq1VYVCAOdVe7QmQVXHvgQtjheojg/edit#gid=0
