Hello sPHENIX electronics, daq, trigger people,
At the Collaboration meeting, it was proposed to have a "Calo" readout-fest over the following two week period:
Dates: Monday, January 22, 2024 -> Friday, February 2, 2024
The Colorado group en masse (myself, JaeBeom, Dan, Joey, Sam) will be at Brookhaven for that period, along with members of the Columbia group, including Chi for a visit. It would be good to coordinate that all of the calorimeter racks can be on in terms of power, cooling, etc. In addition, there are noise tests where we want to run with and without the detector side electronics on.
Goals of the "Calo" readout-fest include:
* Set new PAR III / DCM II / jSEB2d boards in place in final configuration (demultiplexing EMCal to 1 DCM II / PAR III for higher throughput)
* Population of part (likely not all) of high-eta EMCal region ADC boards.
* Checking pedestal noise with and without on-detector power on, potentially replacing some boards.
* ADC bit-shift issue - either testing new firmware or proposed software workaround
* Final testing of zero suppressed data format and data throughput to PAR III, and then to jSEB2d, and then to file (aka speed tests).
* Multi-event buffering with multiple levels of controlled tests.
* Large # event runs with all systems and then event combiner / checking.
* Checking on jSEB2d (and two jSEB2d in one machine) error handling
* Additional Level-1 trigger tests with fake data
* More ...
Inputs and comments are most welcome.
Sincerely,
Jamie
