Dear All-

I would like to submit the following abstract for the DPF meeting in Aug, 2015.  Comments and suggestions are welcome.

The sPHENIX Calorimeter Readout Electronics

E.J. Mannel for the PHENIX Collaboration

A new detector, sPHENIX, is being proposed to explore the quark-gluon plasma through the measurement of jet properties in heavy ion collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, RHIC, at Brookhaven National Laboratory.  The detector is based on the 1.5T super conducting solenoid magnet formally used for the BaBar experiment and consists of the charged particle tracking, electromagnetic and hadronic calorimetry with a high speed data acquisition system capable of recording data at rates up to 15 KHz.  The Calorimeters will use common readout design based on SiPMs which are immune to magnetic fields for optical readout with the analog signals digitized at 65 MHz ADC.  In this talk we will discuss the choice of technologies, global design, and the technical challenges of the calorimeter readout.

Deadline for submission is Friday, 29-May-2015.

Eric
