Hi John, all,

We had a brief discussions of abstracts at the meeting. Here are my notes from the meeting. Additional discussion via email is of course welcomed.

1. The consensus was that we should push for a talk focused on the test beam results (this would be for both EMCal and HCal). (In addition to a general sPHENIX/simulation focused talk)
2. Edward has submitted a talk abstract to the dropbox folder which we could use as a starting point
3. Edward also suggested that we focus more efforts on studies of the tails since the resolution plots have been shown many times. Understanding the tails would be a new result to show and is very important for understanding the detector performance.

possible poster abstracts suggested and potential presenters

-tile testing procedure by GSU
-SiPM testing by Hungarian group
-DAQ by Martin

*statement was made that we could imagine more posters but we should make sure we have presenters available for all proposed posters

Best,
Megan

Dear HCAL'ers:

You have probably seen the email from Gunther and Dave to sphenix-l regarding QM18 abstracts:

Friends,

As discussed at the last GM, we need to prepare abstracts for our QM 2018 contributions in the next week (abstract submission deadline is 12/11). We have prepared a dropbox paper to collect proposals:
Please add any proposals to this page by next Thursday, providing title, abstract and at least one possible presenter for posters. In particular, topical group conveners and L2 managers should organize abstracts for their respective groups within the next week.
We will finalize the abstract selection at the Santa Fe meeting and then submit the abstracts centrally to the conference. We will only select the presenters after we hear back from the organizers, but in particular for the posters we would like to know that their is at least one possible presenter for each submission.
Cheers,
Gunther and Dave

Although I can't be present at the HCAL meeting tomorrow, I have added an agenda item to the list for a discussion of possible abstracts.  It would be very useful if someone could summarize the discussion and send it to the list so that everyone could see it an comment prior to the deadline for discussion at the Santa Fe meeting.

Regards,
John Lajoie
