John-

The DAQ Fest is going on concurrently here at SBU, so I will not be able to join in.

Couple of comments about electronics:

  1. I am waiting to see the readout for the full HCal Module 1 before going forward with the production of the interior signal cables.  We have all the parts and cables, just want to verify the pin connections and lengths to make sure that there are no unexpected surprises. We have all the parts, and the assembly will be done over at NSLS-II and take a few weeks to complete.
  2. We have the cable on order for the full (32 modules) production of the preamp power cables.  We will ask the NSLS_II group to do a enough for the next HCal module, but on review we have decided to have an outside vendor due the full production given the larger number of crimps that are best done using a crimping machine.
  3. There has been discussion among different groups to partially(?) do a test fit of electronics on the inner hcal prototype that was manufactured by ISU.  There are a number of issues that will need to be addressed mechanically (mounting hardware for the interface/backplane/LED Driver) power, slow control and signal cable connections, etc. After yesterday's hcal mechanical meeting, some of the techs/designers went down to look at the prototype and see what would be necessary.  I think there is a plan to move the prototype out to 912 in the near future.

Dear HCAL’ers:

We will have our next HCAL bi-weekly meeting this coming Tuesday, October 22nd at 11AM BNL time:

Right now on the agenda we have some testing results between old and new B25 designs as well and an update on production tile testing at GSU.  Additional contributions are welcome!

John
