The experimental nuclear physics group at Iowa State University invites applications for a post-doctoral position to work on the sPHENIX experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The successful applicant will be expected to take a leadership role in the construction, initial calibration, and commissioning of the sPHENIX hadronic calorimeter at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Responsibilities will include construction and instrumentation of the inner and outer hadronic calorimeter sectors, initial cosmic ray calibration, performance simulations, and development of monitoring tools and software. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the sPHENIX calibration task force and interface with the Jet Substructure Topical Working Group. The position will also offer data analysis opportunities afforded by existing data from the PHENIX and ATLAS heavy ion experiments. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics. Apply online at
