Hello,
Here the requested outer HCal Assembly and Testing update:
- five sectors are fully assembled, tested, working, calibration runs taken, put away in storage ready for installation in sPHENIX.
- ten sectors are on the assembly tables; of those:
- six are fully assembled (modulo thermistors, which only four of those have, see below) and are being tested
- two are full assembled; they need electronics boxes, and then can be tested (also need thermistors)
- two are missing signal cables and thermistors (see below)
- parts
- signal cables and thermistors are coming in at a slower rate than anticipated
- the rate for both is about one sector per week
- this might sound OK since it matches the rate at which we need to assemble the sectors according to P6
- but it actually limits the assembly speed; here’s how:
- we are already three weeks behind due to delays in parts; at a rate of one per week, we will never be able to catch up
- our labor resources are not steady; much of the work is done by visitors, which come in bursts; without a supply of parts in hand, we won’t be able to optimize the labor resources and will fall behind farther
Regards,
Stefan
