Dear All,

Here are the minutes from yesterday’s meeting (also on indico).

Regards,
Stefan

John Lajoie—simulations
—————————————————
- working with Ejiro on implementing MEPHI tile maps
- should result in more realistic simulation (I expect peak to broaden)

Hanpu—PR and T correction (see slides)
—————————————
- updates on MPV distributions:
   - PR values normalized by tile shape
      - discussion whether to normalize shape-by-shape PR-corrected MPV distributions to have same average for every shape
      - this would certainly narrow the overall MPV distribution
      - I think in the meeting we said that would be a good idea
   - temperature corrected (nominal is 26 C)
      - this is working very well as can be seen from the comparison of slides 17 (w/o) and 18 (w/ T correction) for sectors 3 and 15 where we have two runs each taken at different temperatures
- OPEN QUESTIONS
   - why no improvement for B21?
      - suggestion:  quote sigma separately for preproduction and production
   - why preproduction tiles still have low MPV after PR correction?
   - were the outliers after PR correction also outliers before PR correction?

Shuhang—data analysis update (see slides)
——————————————————————————————
- low gain cosmic runs
  - not enough statistics
  - Stefan will discuss with Dan Richford
- low-E background
  - found new cuts to remove background
  - 3-tower stack
    - background disappears when tower in question is sandwiched (slide 4)
    - background does not change peak position (slide 5)
- OPEN QUESTION
   - why do two channels (30, 46) not have background?
     - tests:
       - swap upper and lower
       - maybe some other swaps with 3-tower stack

Saif—Effect of recalculation of preproduction PR values (see slides)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- working on db for recalculated (and historical) PR values
- pointing out that some towers aren't PR-matched as well anymore as they were before after recalculating preproduction PR values
- to match better one would have to start swapping tiles around
- Stefan:  probably won't matter much at all for anything we'll ever measure.  It's a small number of towers affected to begin with, and it's just individual tiles.
  - Doesn't cross the threshold to open up the fully tested and ready for installation (or already installed) sectors in my opinion.
  - But decision should be elevated to HCal meeting (i.e. John Lajoie)

Dear All,

Just a reminder that we’ll get together briefly again today after the HCal meeting to discuss updates on the HCal muon calibration:
