Dear All,

Here the minutes from today’s meeting (also on indico).

Regards,
Stefan
Megan (for Jingyu Zhang)—T dependence
————————————————————————————
- confirmed T dependence used in Hanpu’s analysis

Ejiro—MEPHI data (see slides)
————————————
- have light maps for inner and outer for all tile shapes except B25
  - Edward:  will get B25 and 2nd set of inner shapes by end of September
- implementing in Géant
- John L:  download slides to see 2D plots better
- need to calibrate geometry (MEPHI coordinates have undefined origin)
- will make available in sPHENIX simulation

Dan Lis—simulation update
——————————————————
- working on E distribution
  - using Corsika simulation from Kascade experiment

Shuhang—low-E background (see slides)
———————————————————————————
- correction from last week
  - subtracted plots (sandwiched minus not sandwiched) had different cuts
  - now same cuts
  - difference moved to higher ADC values
  - looks like 15 - 20 % of unsubtracted MIP peak with higher fraction of low-E background
  - could be explained by absence of veto in radial direction
    - qualitatively consistent since tiles longer in radial direction
- comparison of MIP in tile stack vs regular tower (no geometrical cuts)
  - tower has larger background fraction
  - can this be reproduced in simulation?  —> ACTION ITEM Dan Lis
    - muon angular distribution will be important ingredient
- cut-off at ~ 50?  Shuhang’s own offline cut
- Edward:  start by implementing geometric cuts but no E cut (ACTION ITEM)

Hanpu—MIP fitting (see slides)
—————————————————————
- peak finder on average correct, but large individual uncertainty b/c of bin width
- gamma function alone doesn’t describe peak well
- gamma+linear function (linear for low-E background) works most of the time, but sometimes doesn’t work well (large chi2, large uncertainty)
   - probably b/c linear function not well constrained
- maybe best option is to use gamma+linear if indication is it works well, and peak finder otherwise
- tables of MPV and PR data, and outliers
- Edward:  look at correlations to detector geometry
  - e.g. lego plot where z axis is #of hits above some threshold
