Hi all,

Thank you for your helpful suggestions. A newer draft following these suggestions is included below. 
With regards to your questions on the E/p plots Stefan, yes the black curve which is the total energy deposited in the calorimeters is not at 1 because the hcals in the simulation are calibrated to the EM scale. The black and red curves differ by the addition of the mip energy in the emcal and ihcal to the energy (~ 0.3 GeV on average) in the red curve to get the value of the black curve. The difference between the red and black curves in the pythia study is for the same reason. We see such good agreement between the particle gun and pythia sample because this study was conducted with hadrons isolated from both charged and neutral particles to get a feel for the rate of truth isolated hadrons so there is very little background. We are now looking into the influence of background in a study using hadrons isolated from only charged particles and expect to see more background contribution in both the E/p plot on slide 7 and the mip peaks displayed on slide 8.

On your slide 2, I suggest to replace the somewhat grainy rendering of sPHENIX (at least, it is grainy on my PDF reader).

Here is a dropbox of updated renderings of the experiment, maintained by Dave Morrison: https://bnlbox.sdcc.bnl.gov/index.php/s/tDHkYzzETHfaLJE . There are versions with the subsystems individually labelled, so one of those might be a nice replacement.

For the plot in the upper right of Figure 4, that must be the number of candidate hadrons after an isolation requirement, right? It might be good to make that clearer with a label or comment.

For the calorimeter stack drawing on slide 5, I am actually not sure what the canonical source is - but I think it is worth trying to find a higher resolution version or even making your own. Or perhaps taking a “slice” of slide 2 in Dave’s dropbox.

For slide 7, agree with Stefan’s comment that this might be more easily processed by the audience with a colorized z-axis.
