Dear All,
Here are the minutes of today’s commissioning meeting (also on indico):
HCal cosmics calibration—Hanpu (see slides)
—————————————————————
- discussion in calibration part of meeting
- trigger rate not understood (~ factor 10 higher than expected)
- estimate from recent triggered data taken is 11-12 hours of data taking for calibration at 3 % uncertainty level
- expect iHCal to require at least 2-3 times more time (previously (in 912) it was 10 times)
- Jamie: it’s not viable to plan for regular cosmics data taking during run to track time dependent calibration
- Hanpu: previous studies based on 912 data showed a smaller T coefficient for LED data than for cosmics data, which is not understood
- Jamie: then we should reconcile the discrepancy rather than abandoning the LED; chance for that is the upcoming calorimeter read-out fest
Demonstrate gain balancing
————————————
- will until sufficient cosmics calibration data will have been taken
EMCal dark current annealing effect—John
———————————————————
- John had to go before we got to the commissioning part of the meeting
- will discuss next time
Other plans
——————
- Silas plans pedestal study to determine effect of various detectors being switched on/off on pedestal
- now possible that ECW is back on for EMCal
- Hanpu and Silas plan to determine HCal High/Low gain ratio precisely and confirm that it is the same for all preamp boards
Upcoming events
————————
- calorimeter read-out fest: Jan 22 - Feb 2
- good opportunity to take cosmics and LED data to sort out discrepancy in T coefficient
- cosmics data taking for TPC with HCal triggers: Jan 1-4 (including weekend)
- will need support from HCal/trigger/DAQ folks
Stefan

It would be nice to see plots on that also.Best regards,Stefan----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
