Hi All,
Kudos to the committee for their work on this. Following today’s discussion, I would be willing to vote in favor of a hook or insertion of this statement into our bylaws as is, but I didn’t understand Bill’s explanation of the uses of the words “similar” and “same” in adjacent sentences in response to Joern’s question. If there is a compelling need for a person to avoid participation in similar measurements on different experiments, why would we then hold the research groups to a slightly modified version of this standard?
Of course, in the end we’re really just asking all collaborators to exercise good judgement in preserving independence, but I don’t understand the benefit of expressing this in slightly different wording when proceeding from need to compliance.
