POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN HEAVY ION PHYSICS at UC, RIVERSIDE

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of
California, Riverside invites applications for a term appointment to
conduct research in experimental heavy ion physics. The appointed
individual will primarily work on analysis of beam energy scan data to
be taken in the next two years by the STAR experiment at the
Brookhaven National Laboratory.

In particular, initial analysis will focus on phi meson flow as a
function of beam center of mass energy, to understand the QCD phase
transition of ordinary nuclear matter to a Quark Gluon Plasma. Later
analysis will focus on other aspects of the data, including
fluctuations. Other work may involve data from the PHENIX MPC-EX.  The
group is also beginning work on forward calorimeter R and D for the
EIC based on the sPHENIX detector. The group works closely with UCR's
nucleon spin group, which is led by Kenneth Barish. The candidate may
be in residence at Brookhaven National Laboratory or in Riverside
depending on the exact work plan.

Applicants should submit a resume highlighting personal research
achievements, a list of publications where your contributions were
significant, and a statement of research interests and expertise to
Prof. Richard Seto (Richard.Seto AT ucr.edu). In addition, the applicant
should arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be sent
to the above address to be sent to
