Advertisement for a Postdoctoral Position

 

The University of Virginia Experimental High Energy Physics group is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill a postdoctoral position working on the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.

The UVa group is led by three faculty B. Cox, R. Hirosky, and C. Neu.  We are very active in the CMS upgrade projects, including the new CMS Phase 2 Timing Detector and the Phase 2 Electromagnetic Detector upgrade and in several data analysis projects involving searches for new physics.  Candidates should have interest in developing the technology  for the timing detector R&D and construction of the timing detector proper. The candidate should also have a record of accomplishment in physics analyses. The UVa HEP group is involved in several physics studies including searches for supersymmetry in final states with photons, searches for Higgs particles with various signature, and various top quark measurements.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS: Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D. in physic,s specifically in High Energy Physics at the time of appointment. Candidates will be expected to help mentor graduate students and should have strong communication skills and potential for leadership.
