------
The Experimental Nuclear Physics Group at the University of Illinois invites
applications for a postdoctoral position in Relativistic Heavy Ion Physics.
The group is involved in both ATLAS at the LHC and sPHENIX at BNL. We have
been the leading group in the construction of the sPHENIX electromagnetic
calorimeter and are now working on commissioning and calibrating the detector
as well as preparing for physics analysis. The group has also made major
contributions to the ATLAS Heavy Ion Program, especially in jets. The
Illinois group is part of a diverse department which covers many related
areas of nuclear and high-energy physics and has strong local theory
involvement.
The successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in the
sPHENIX and/or ATLAS experiments. The candidate should have a recent Ph.D.
in experimental nuclear physics before the beginning of the position. The
Postdoctoral Research Associate is a full-time, benefits-eligible position
appointed on a 12-month service basis. A CV, a brief description of
research experience and interests and three letters of recommendation should
be sent to Prof. Anne Sickles (sickles AT illinois.edu). Applications will be
considered until the position is filled. The position will start on July 10,
2023 or after. The position is for one year initially and is renewable for
additional years.
