Experimental High Energy Nuclear Physics Tenure-Track Assistant Professor

New Mexico State University

      The Department of Physics at New Mexico State University seeks
applicants for a Tenure-Track position at the level of Assistant Professor in
Experimental High Energy Nuclear Physics. The successful candidate is
expected to teach undergraduate and graduate physics and establish an
externally-funded research program directly involving graduate and
undergraduate students.The NMSU Physics Department offers Bachelor's degrees
in physics and engineering physics and Master's and Doctoral degrees. Current
research areas in the department include high-energy nuclear physics,
solid-state/condensed-matter physics, materials science, and optics.
      The experimental high-energy nuclear physics group (M. Paolone, S.
Pate, V. Papavassiliou) conducts research in nuclear structure that includes
the MicroBooNE, SeaQuest, and SpinQuest experiments at Fermilab as well as
nuclear structure, excitation and medium modification studies at Jefferson
Lab. The theoretical nuclear and particle physics group (M. Engelhardt, M.
Sievert) pursues research in the areas of hot and cold QCD, including hadron
structure, lattice QCD, jets, and gluon saturation.
      We seek a person who will grow a vigorous, externally-funded research
program in strong interaction physics at a US facility and have a deep
commitment to both graduate and undergraduate physics education. All
candidates must have a Ph.D. degree, at least one year of post-doctoral
research experience, and an established record of research and publications.

summary of research and teaching experience, a short description of the

three references who are willing to provide a letter in support of the
