Software updates
Chris Pinkenburg - Database implementation
Jin: how user override works? Chris: Subsystem fill geo object with parameters set by macro
Action Item [Chris]: plan to apply to Hcals as example implementation of this framework. And show more more details via a pull request.
Mike McCumber: · Calorimeter shower storage is on TODO list · Updating and checking VTXp ladder geometry with Yasuyuki A. after ladder rearrangement. · We should consider import SVXp assemply from the PISA simulation as maintained by Hubert van Hecke (LANL)
Nils Feege/Jin Huang: new tower geometry frame
Chris: Consider saving timing stamp? Action Item [Jin]: Yes. We will add the timing of the tower hit to RawTower
John L.: How hard to update forward Hcal mapping Nils: need to update the par file. Will discuss example offline.
Chris: Does the geometry input check for geometry confliction? Nils: No right now. It is a fast solution at the moment Jin: good to read geometry from the Par node as Chris is working on.
Action Item [Nils/Jin]: finish this develop branch and update the pull request. Invite Mike/Chris for review and merge.
Abhisek: Timing study for HCal
Page 2: Jin: good illustration why Birk’s law affect hadron shower a lot as there is many hits from heavy nuclei, which has high dE/dx and saturation in scintillation.
Page 6: Abhisek: each curve is normalized vertically separately
Page 7: Jin: what is the current ADC setting in term of effective integration time John H.: Effectively integrating 30ns for peaking fitting analysis, and integrating for 100ns for integral the ADC VS time curves.
John L.: Which calorimeters are included in this study? Abhisek: Only included two Hcals in this analysis.
Page 8: Abhisek: 93% enclosure for 100ns integration window.
Xiaochun: long tails could leak to the next event. Xiaochun: neutron gas of delay timing was high background on RPC John^2: This study has three fold effects: 1) studying timing leakage out of the ADC timing window. 2) Pile up in high rate between crossings 3) timing is further coupled to the scint’s timing structure (supposedly to be smaller, need to be quantified).
Chris: Need to add timing cut in simulations. Nils: from e/h -> timing cuts, the timing cut would affect resolution via e/h fluctuation.
Nils/Jin: CALICE has beam test of calorimeter timing: http://arxiv.org/abs/1510.04063
Action Item [Abhisek]: resolution VS timing cut. 30ns/100ns. ActionItem [Jin] : Add 100ns cut to stepping function when forming light_yield().
John Haggert: documentation.
John H.: ask privately for read password (cannot write on open webpage). For editable account, need to contact ITD.
Added new wiki link for evaluators: https://wiki.bnl.gov/sPHENIX/index.php/Using_G4HITS_data
How to improve over life time of documentation? · Jin: CMS assign primary author/maintainer to each topic · John L: add links of tutorials. o John H: linked to the tutorial session of the SBU software workshop · Chris: concern to use in evaluator for large scale analysis. Need to show people simple way to loop through DST objects in analysis modules. · Mike: it is responsible for subsystem to document the DST objects. Focus on important things that are less likely to expire.
Action Item [Jin]: propose a tutorial page to show user how to read DST by linking to example code in Doxygen Action Item [Jin/Mike]: setup seed pages for each subsystem to document DST outputs
