Happy new year - here are the brief minutes.

Attending (BNL) Achim, Chris, Jeff, Megan
Phone/BlueJeans: Jin, John Lajoie, Martin, Mike, Murad

the new G4 version needs gcc 4.8, our code compiles with it and Mike did a test for the tracking (after the meeting) which shows it works. We didn't hear any calorimeter assessment but will just go ahead and switch to the new compiler as soon as I get around doing it (today hopefully). Then this will become the default, the C++11 compiler flag (-std=c++11) will be enabled by default (which might need cosmetic fixes in packages which currently don't use it).

I've been running cppcheck on many of our packages and fix warnings/complaints by it. This should be part of the tests being run before code makes it into our repository. Even if this doesn't result in a detection of many real bugs it just enforces a better coding.

We had a nuts and bolts discussion about Mikes new Shower object which is almost ready for prime time. It drastically reduces the DST size since it replaces the G4Hits. To speed the deployment up we'll push this out soon and see how far we get with it (rather than thinking of all the theoretical cases where we might need some addition).

Disk space is a bit tight right now while we move data in rcf from BlueArc to gpfs. I am using this opportunity to disentangle PHENIX from sPHENIX. We need to think how we want to organize ourselves (unlimited disk space for everybody is not a viable option).

Dear All,

Happy New Year, and this is a reminder for our weekly simulation meeting Tue
Jan 5th, 1PM EST.

Currently on the agenda, there are several updates during the holiday times,
include new compiler, Geant4 version and test productions from Chris. Then
Mike will introduce a compact truth output via the new shower objects. More
contributions are welcomed too.

Please note a new room (BNL 510C 2-219) will be used for this meeting (and
most future meetings). Also a new phone bridge (619960505) will be used.
Although I will be on travel, Chris will host the discussion.

The agenda page is at https://indico.bnl.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=1645.
* For residents at BNL, we will meet at the 2-219 conference room
