Software updates: Chris Pinkenburg
Geatn4 event display rendering problem: · Could render track in random place in NX based Geant4 event display. · After consulting with NX experts at ITD, to be fixed via update login script.
New single particle G4 production: · Finished · 1000 particle with full Geant4 information saved · /sphenix/sim/sim01/production/2016-02-01/spacal1d/fieldmap/ · /sphenix/sim/sim01/production/2016-02-01/spacal2d/fieldmap/
Production macro updates: · Reconfigured macro a bit to move analysis part out of G4setup · Already submitted to GitHub
Jin: sPHENIX GitHub email list operational. Let me know if there is any problem.
EMCal simulation - Vera Loggins
Page 2: Chris: what is the driving factor for 1-day period Vera, Gabor: rough time frame as place holder to statistics required for one pi-0 calibration. Exact statistics to be determined. Jin: In short time frame, calibration is helped by calibration system too
Slides 4: data shown is photon simulation in central rapidity
Slides 6 Jin: Great to have this comparison. Few comments for the pre-CDR simulation · Pre-CDR used a graph Clusterizer connect all non-zero neighboring towers · Electron simulation were done with Si-tracking removed. To direct compare with new simulation, suggest use photon simulation from pre-CDR which do have Si-tracks (also small effect to resolution)
Plan:
Gabor: also important to pin down the impact point of photon, which dominate the resolution for higher pT pi0 via opening angle measurement. Linear weighting to get cluster center as we do now would not yield best performance. We can try logarithmic weighting with a threshold on minimal energy, which take into account the tail of energy distribution better.
Calorimeter Jet QA – Jin Huang
On-going progress to build standardized tools to quantify jet performance. Pull request opened to collect comments: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/105
Verbal update on tracking: Kurt Hill, Mike McCumber
Plan to systematically study tracking candidates via Geant4 simulation with a fast simulation/parametrization on the calorimeter.
Mike/Kurt: plan to use high energy calorimeter tower matching to help purify large energy track samples Chris: Martin Purschke may have something in WA98 to parameterize calorimeter response function Jin/Mike: with three layers of calorimeter, a Gauss parameterization on energy resolution could serve well for the majority of shower sample already (to be studied).
Jin: do we have noticeable back scattering from calorimeter? Mike: not yet. Can be done with simple test to compare tracking occupancy with calorimeter ON/OFF in Geant4.
Time scale: plan to update in the next couple weeks.

Dear All,
This is a reminder that we will have our regular sPHENIX simulation and software meeting, Tue Feb 2nd, 1PM EST @ 2-219.
Currently on the agenda: following software and production update, Vera will discuss plan and progress on EMCal calibration simulations and I will try to finish up the calorimeter QA modules. More contributions of topics will be welcomed too.
The agenda page is at https://indico.bnl.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=1666 , for which the common modification password is "1008" • For residents at BNL, we will meet at the 2-219 conference room • To join the Meeting via phone bridge: https://bluejeans.com/619960505 • To join via Phone: 1) Dial: +1.408.740.7256 +1.888.240.2560(US Toll Free) +1.408.317.9253(Alternate number) (see all numbers - http://bluejeans.com/numbers) 2) Enter Conference ID: 619960505
