Dear sPHENIX Collaborators and other interested parties,
Today we reached a milestone of sorts for the sPHENIX Project.
The cool-down of the SC-solenoid in preparation for a low power test
was begun this morning. In the attached files you can see a photo
of the magnet on the AGS floor and a snapshot of the
cryo controls taken a few minutes ago. As you know the former BaBar
magnet arrived at BNL one year ago. Since then many engineers,
technicians, and scientists from the BNL Colliding Accelerator Dept,
Superconductng Magnet Div and Physics Dept have work hard to make
this test possible. Thanks to all involved and good luck in our test.
