Hi Rene,

Thanks for bringing this up - I think this was also briefly raised at the
Rutgers collaboration meeting and in later discussions. My view is that
inevitably we will also have a strong "soft physics" program with sPHENIX,
for one just to remeasure the "standard model" and make sure we know what
we're doing, but also to use the unique combination of very high rate and
relatively large mid-rapidity acceptance for measurements that have not been
done before.
My assumption is that once the topical groups morph into broader physics
working groups there will certainly also be one or two soft-physics related
working groups. For the immediate future (i.e. the next week or two) we
probably should focus on getting groups most closely related to the core
program discussed in the sPHENIX science review and the NP LRP off the
ground. But if there is a well defined proposal and sufficient interest for a
soft-physics "topic" to build a topical group around we could add another
group as things get going.

On a related note, we might want to discuss if the fsPHENIX proponents might
consider organizing studies around a topical group (or groups) as well.

Cheers,

Gunther
