Photon jet fragmentation simulation - Dennis

Summary: Gamma-jet events embedded into Hijing and simulated via various tracking configuration (MIE, VTX+strip, full MAPS). Fake rate in tracking in the jet cone were compared.

Jin: what was the photon distribution in eat?

Dennis: similar to jets.

Jin: How many event expected in the sPHENIX data for pT>40GeV gamma-jet?

Dennis: Photon-jet stat for pT>40GeV ~ 75 events. Need to lower pT to ~30GeV for fragmentation study

Dave: Are Hijing sample independent as similar feature show up in 4/8fm \Delta R distribution?

Dennis: will take a look

Chong: ITS better than ideal?

Jin: MIE is not idea tracking, it is an approximation of silicon tracking option with no dead area

Sarah: also warn that difference on the log scale Y-axis may look big at low stat.

Jin: what was the effect of additional momentum marching?

Ron: momentum marching did not make very big difference

Page 9: Fake rate is small in Pythia simulation (as expected)

Dennis: there is a small sample of "Hijing matched" in pythia only simulation. Expect from secondary tracks somehow mis-ID as Hijing. Will check

Page 12:

In jet study, it appears the fake rate for the VTX+strip option is much lower than Ron's inclusive track simulation. Expect truth rate is higher in the jet cone. Will check.

Jin: how the current fake rate compare to the expected fragmentation measurement uncertainty?

Dennis: need more statistics.

Action Item [Dennis and Ron]: Find out fake rate, which is supposed to scale with phase space of dEta*dPhi*d(sign/p).

Kalman fit update with GenFit2 - Haiwang

Summary: new fit works for sPHENIX tracks in standalone-test environment

Page 3:

Haiwang: Currently used one-time geometry -> TGeo export developed by Abhisek. In future need on-the-fly export.

Page 4:

TGeo provide good option of event display.

Jin/Chris: field propagation.

Abhisek: Also support export Geant4 hits

Page 6:

Chris: not import from G4 field setting?

Jin: not sure. From the macro, it has a 1.4T input parameter into the Kalman/Hough module.

Page 7: DCA comparison

Not apple-to-apple comparison as the pre-CDR plot included vertex smearing. Mike plan to separate up the current code to produce a single track DCA resolution so Haiwang can compare.

Plan:

Dave: is there a plan on the RAVE interface?

Haiwang: Sanghoon plan to work on it. Will collaborate.

Action Item [Chris and Haiwang]: Fork GenFit in sPHENIX GitHub and build on RCF as external packages

Action Item [Mike and Haiwang]: Integrate with sPHENIX software

Action Item [Jin]: Follow Abhisek's fork, on-the-fly geometry export via DST

ALICE ITS import to sPHENIX - Anthony Frawley

Summary: MPAS workfest produced ALICE ITS GDML export for sPHENIX use. Subsystem/macro were followed up to use in sPHENIX full detector simulation. Digitization is on-going.

Dave: How did inner tracker get installed? Two halfs closing in around beam pipe, or thread beam pipe through?

Tony: not sure, but can be find out.

Page 7: event display by zooming-into the beam pipe area

Jin: staggering of the inner layer may borrow from ALICE design first.

Tony: will look into it.

Dave: did we discuss of constructing a new beam pipe in the MAPS workfest? May deserve talk to Walframe Fisher to find out beam profile limit on the beam pipe diameter

Tony: not yet decided.

Page 12: Geometry object is under construction.

Jin: it later will be used in the Kalman filter too.

Action Item [Kun and Tony]: extract rotation and shift for the ALICE setup to reproduce the ALICE setup to evaluate ALICE layout for the inner tracker.

Action Item [Tony and Jin]: put updates on a GitHub fork to help collaborating.

Prototype simulation: SPACAL – Jin Huang

Summary: ready to use, test simulation set on disk, analyzed and showed 12%/Sqrt(E) resolution: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/macros/pull/19

Prototype simulation: comparison between two HCal prototype setups - Murad Sarsour

Summary: notice a shift when comparing to Chris’ inner HCal layout is one set of Richie’s drawing. Pull request pending resolve the inner HCal difference.

Chris: just sent over another set of the drawing for cross check.

Prototype simulation: sPHENIX-based HCal setup - Chris Pinkenburg

Summary: tower/cell reconstruction ready.

Jin: is there digitization parameter so we can implement the pixel/ADC noise etc.?

Chris/Abhisek: not confirmed yet

Action Item [Jin]: Put in a toy version of digitization so we can look at joint HCal + EMCal performance.
