Minutes also available on agenda: https://indico.bnl.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=1909

Announcement:

No meeting next week, as partly merges into sPHENIX HF jet workshop: https://indico.bnl.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2077 and the sPHENIX collaboration meeting

Software update

Outstanding issues:

  1. Alan proposed a fix on TPC simulation: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/143

a.       He expect similar high-pT performance

b.      TODO (volunteered needed, or Mike can only take the task after Thu):

                                       i.            Try it out with TPC simulation in Hijing embedding

ii.            SVX tracking takes too long with this pull request. Therefore need to develop an algorithm switch for SVX

2.       Bug introduced to tracking: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/issues/147

a.       In the last two weeks but before latest change in stepping action

b.      TODO: Mike can work on it after Thu

General wish list:

·       Keep more frequent ANA-builds to help trace bugs.

·       Request Mike and Jin to run standardized calorimetry and tracking QA on Play-builds that carry major software change, like Geant4 versions

Action Item [Chris, Jin]:  discuss reasonable way to do so.

TG preparations on ALD charge:

Upsilon TG

Action Item [Tony, Marzia]: Embedding Upsilon in Hijing in fast simulation, now stuck on issue 2 as mentioned above as Mike is solving

Action Item [Kurt, Tony]:   Tony + Kurt on fast calorimetry simulation

Action Item [Jin]:  update Electron ID

Jet Structure TG

Calorimetry simulation to run:

·       Thin outer HCal

·       EMCal partial coverage

·       No inner HCal

Action Item [Chris. Jin]: prepare these calorimetry setup in Geant4

Action Item [Rosi and Dennis]: produce different sample of Pythia jet for this study.

HF Jet TG

Action Item [Dennis, Mike]: update track counting tagger performance via parameterized Pythia simulation

Action Item [Jin]: update electron ID to infer on SLT performance

CEMC 2x2 ganging - Jin

Ready for analyzer: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/146

Qualitative check on cluster position performance via default Clusterizer and energy-weighted position (both not optimized)

Offline discussion: Justin group volunteer to check photon performance

Fast calorimeter simulation - Kurt Hill

Fake track electron ID performance requires full tracker simulation + fast simulator on calorimetry (CEMC)

Slide 3: introduction

Kurt/Tony: Magnetic bending is considered for the primary particles

Slides 4:

Tony: how simulated?

Jin/Kurt: record location/momentum of particle hit a cylinder @ CEMC shower max. Kill the particle in Geant4, then parametrize its shower response in energy and special spread in fast simulator. Output is CEMC towers.

Action Item [Kurt, Tony]:   complete these tools

Kalman filter - Haiwang

Close to final in performance cross check of new/existing Kalman filter.

Page 4:

Tony: Flat background suggest bug in tracking or track selection.

Page 5:

Missing label:

·       P0: constant term

·       P1: linear term

Page 6: DCA comparison

Action Item [Haiwang]: perform more careful check by splice one pT+eta bin and compare the DCA shape

RAVE update: solving RAVE bug on field direction handling

Action Item [Haiwang]: Better temp. solution than run RAVE in zero-magnetic is to reverse magnetic field direction in Haiwang’s sPHENIX simulation tests.

Page 10: plan

Action Item [Jin, Haiwang]: Geometry translation

Action Item [Haiwang]: Make pull request to check in nightly-builds.
