Dear Collaborators,
   Here are the minutes form today's meeting.

Cheers,
Abhisek

sPHENIX General Meeting
2nd September 2016
================================

sPHENIX News - Dave
====================

S1: The cover picture is very nice for everyone to use for their talks. Suggestions to make the colors rich. Dave will look into it.

S4: Berndt will send a draft to Dave for review of the news bulletin soon.

S4: During next week's tracking review, there is a diversity workshop at BNL. All interested sphenixians are encourage to attend if they can.

S6: sPHENIX talks were well taken at BNL S&T review. DOE report is expected in 3 months.

Dave encouraged everyone to attend the simulation meeting. Martin mentioned simulation meeting is a general discussion meeting. It's scope is larger than only simulations.

sPHENIX Project News - Ed
========================

S1: Getting ready for tracker review. An experienced committee is expected.

Dave: How TPC costs were estimated?
Ed: Costs were based on other similar projects.

Dave: Students contribution will be focused on Tom's slide.

Chris: HPSS made a visit last week. Chris talked to them about 5GB/s data transfer from sPHENIX DAQ. They said it is feasible and not a big deal anymore. Good to let
the committee know. Keep a backup slide.

Ed: Review will take place in instrumental who wish to attend at BNL.

Tracking plots for review - Tony:
===========================

S10: Switch to Ne is because of ion speed?
Tony: yes, it has to do with drift time.

Dave: Why mis-identified low momentum tracks reconstructed in high pT?
Tony: Those low pT tracks picks up a few hits in outer tracker and pass chisquare cut.

Jin: purity will be sample dependent. A major caveat.
Tony: Lets discuss offline.

Tony: Momentum resolution plot needs update. Few other plots also needs update.

Testbeam analysis - Vera:
============================
Chirs: Simulation on the spot with data? Do we understand which makes it on top of each other?
Abhisek: Simulation includes Birk's correction, towers, digitization parameters etc.
Jin: Physics list does not change resolution too much.

Takao: Linearity plot is better shown with differential linearity.
Anne: We will do it.
Takao: 5-6% difference not okay but 1% is fine.

Craig: Plans about position dependent resolution plot?
Vera: We are looking into it

Megan: We need finalize the author list. So if anyone didnt filled the survey yet, please do so ASAP.

Cold QCD topical group - Nils:
==========================

Chris: RHIC loose polarization ability after modification to the snakes and rotators?
Dave: That is for EIC in order to maximize the polarization. That happens after sPHENIX..
Nils: once eRHIC, no going back.

Dave: During S&T review there were discussion about QCD plan. Elke submitted QCD plan but no official news from DOE yet. "oversight"

General comment:
=======================

Martin: Five doodle polls are opened at the same time. Conflicting poll entry if one fixes a time. We need to fix one poll first before another one. Keep track of them in sPHENIX google calendar.
