Uplison R_AA projection - Sasha Lebedev
Summary: crosschecking R_AA statistical uncertainty projection with sPHENIX proposal
Page 2: The concern to address: sPHENIX proposal contains better Upsilon statistics projection than last week's update. Slide 4: error estimated using 1/Sqrt(N_AuAu) Slide 5: error estimation in p+p
Discussion: Sasha: how sPHENIX proposal R_AA estimation made? Tony: including background in the AuAu projection. Tony: how new background spectrum get constructed? Sasha: using hadron embedding in AuAu in full simulation and extracted pT-dependent pion rejection factor at given electron efficiency. Tony: what mass range was used to estimate signal/background ratio and signal count? Sasha: integral through a window of 9.1-9.5 or 9.6 GeV/c^2. Sasha: Another difference, in proposal eID = 70% for AuAu and eID = 90% for p+p. Now use 90% in both case as electron ID improves in recent simulations.
Action Item [Sasha, Tony]: suggest cross check the signal/background spectrum and mass window between sPHENIX proposal and Sasha’s updated simulation. Tony/Jin: suggest use crystal ball to extract yield with max efficiency use of data. John: important to sort it out and archive macros, results, as Upsilon is one leading program in detector designing
GenFit2 on Ladders - Haiwang Yu
Summary: first try out GenFit2 Kalman filter to fit MAPS detectors in ladder geometry
Slide 2: Jin: why need tilt hardcoded? Tony: should not be hard coded. Expect in geometry class.
Slide 4: new code has better resolution but worse linearity (comparing new fit without recalibrator with default fit with recalbratator) Tony: was consistent field map used in the new fit? Haiwang: need to double check Jin: another source of non-linearity at high momentum could be the assignment of cluster center is off, upstream from the Kalman fit.
Tony: was the fit considered the material distribution in the ladders Haiwang: yes.
Action Item [Haiwang, Tony]: fetch tilt from geometry class stored on DST. Make such interface if the geometry interface not already support it. Action Item [Haiwang]: Double check the origin of non-linearity in pT from GenFit results: 1) whether magnetic field map is consist between simulation and fit. 2) whether the cluster center is properly assigned by running fast simulation with cluster built from smearing truth hit location. Action Item [Haiwang]: check DCA reconstruction quality which is more sensitive to realistic material distribution
