Upsilon background update - Sasha Lebedev
Summary: cross check with proposal for Upsilon and background by using same approximation of hadron rejection. New study expect lower background at 70% eff. Explore 90% electron eff. option too.
Slide 2: slightly binning may be used than proposal.
Slide 3: after apply pT-dependent pion rejection factor, it appears improved hadron background @ 70% electron efficiency
Slide 4: investigating background spectrum with choice of 90% electron eff.
Plan: expect new R_AA next week.
Check quality of tracking fit - Haiwang Yu
Summary: isolating the distortion in pull distribution of pT and DCA to the reconstruction of clusters
Dave: progress on realistic MAPS geometry. Haiwang: back step from full geometry to investigate pull distribution problem. Jin: Tony have the code almost ready. Need pull request to merge.
Slide 3: the problem trying to solve: for both default and GenFit2 Kalman fit, distortion on pull distribution is observed. Smaller effect for GenFit2.
Slide 4: with ideal clustering, pull distribution for both pT and DCA_2D become nominal (mean = 0, resolution/error = 1), suggesting the problem on slide3 originate from cluster biases
Slide 5: correcting for the radial location of the reconstructed cluster did not solve the problem on slide 3.
Slide 6: further check cluster pull distribution. Still checking. Jin: suggest further check these variables before drawing conclusions on clusterizer quality.
Discussion: Dave: What’s the origin of the TPC clusterizer code? Jin: built upon PHG4CylindricalCell with a reconstruction chain of PHG4CylinderCellTPCReco -> PHG4TPCClusterizer
General comments
Chris: we should look into fast sPHENIX simulation model using scheme like EIC Smear package (fast simulation with detector smearing), which could be a good starting point. Action Item [volunteer needed]: fast simulation for sPHENIX observables without the Geant4 stages (tracks, calorimeter clusters, jets).
