PROJECT UPDATE (Ed O'Brien)

- FNAL teat beam for sPHENIX calorimeters getting underway, calorimeters
arrived, schedule data taking 1/20-2/21
- Huge preparation work for CD1 Review
    - CD1 prep workshop March 1-3 (key involvement of L2 managers),
re-doing of bottoms up cost estimate
    - CD1 Director's review in June 2017
    - Monthly practice CD-1 talks for PMG (on-going).    Template for
information, generally going well
- Need more mechanical engineering support (on-going effort for more
than one year)
    - Most mechanical engineering would come from C-AD, overloaded
resource with EIC competition
- MB trigger most likely to be BBC (still in negotiation), would be good
to have an update on configuration/performance
- Detector progress highlights (among many)
    - High eta EMCal modules look good and ready for FNAL test beam
    - TPC readout configuration, TPC electronics
    - Outer HCal, Inner HCal getting steel bids.   Plan for inner HCal
test beam next year.

COLLABORATION NEWS (Dave Morrison / Gunther Roland)

- Excellent collaboration meeting at GSU (thanks!)
       - LBNL, Berkeley, Temple by vote of IB now admitted as official
sPHENIX institutions
- BNL web page cover story on sPHENIX CD-0

       - Question about whether non-BNL institutions can / should
advertise (their own news stories)
       - Dave will check with ALD (DPM: I've sent email to Berndt and am
waiting to hear back)
- QM Poster approval process, posters need to be made ahead of time,
suggested template shown
- Need to update sPHENIX luminosity projections, data rates/triggers,
and document numbers and assumptions
       - Not clear if that is an action item for the next two weeks
before QM17?
- ALD Bulletin - highlighted sPHENIX CD-0, and also Lab's commitment to
inclusive working environment

MAPS UPDATE (Ming Liu)

- Workfest at LANL, 20+ people in attendance, lots of good progress
- Mechanical integration work with LBNL, MIT, LANL ramping up
- MIE writing, team assignments, lots of details
- Plan for follow up workshop at LBNL later this month

Extra announcement - calorimeter test beam NIM manuscript now
circulating, two week comment period
- Dave mentioned plan to have authors give a short summary/presentation
