Dear RHIC spokespersons,
I would like to advertise a small workshop (see below) on machine learning and HEP we are organizing at CERN, which I think could also be interesting for the RHIC community. Note in particular that there will be a session on the “Identification of physics objects” for which we are soliciting abstracts.
I would be grateful if you could circulate this within your experiments.
Thanks,
Best Regards,
Michele.

Dear all,
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the first IML Machine Learning workshop:
https://indico.cern.ch/event/595059/
taking place at CERN from March 20th to March 22nd, 2017.
The workshop has four main parts, listed in order of occurrence in the workshop agenda:1. A discussion panel with industry representatives on Machine Learning2. The HSF Community White Paper (CWP) discussion to define the roadmap and the medium and long term plan for Machine Learning Software and Tools3. Identification of physics objects (i.e. jet and heavy flavour tagging, among others)4. Tutorials for common machine learning tools in HEPFurthermore, a machine learning challenge on jet identification will take place during the workshop.
We are currently soliciting abstracts for the physics object identification session. All abstracts need to be received by March 3rd to be considered. Interested speakers should also specify the intended length, with choices of 20 or 30 minutes. We will do our best to respect these proposals, depending on the number of contributions received.
There is no cost to register, but we ask that you do that as soon as possible. We will use the registration information to gauge attendance for coffee breaks and similar.
We look forward to receiving your proposals, and to seeing you at the IML workshop!
Best regards,
IML CoordinatorsLorenzo, Michele, Paul, Sergei, and Steven
