Software update - Chris Pinkenburg
Merged pull request: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/256 Major redesign PHG4Cell* objects. Verified with HIJING simulation and cylindrical tracking models. In additions, fixed stepping actions problem if particle decay in the active volume.
TODO: recovering silicon tracker's cell reconstruction class (done)
Announcement to active developers: · Rebase development branches with git pull in both macro and coresoftware local repositories · Let Chris know if any question or concern
PHGenFit update - Haiwang Yu
Summary: Two ongoing work for next pattern recognition software suits.
1. sPHENIX adoption of GenFit2: development to allow quick update of track state vector via reweighting.
2.
Seeding of progress tracking using HoughTransform on subset of inner layer silicon trackers.
o Check quality of vector for the seeding o Check efficiency and purity of the seeds. Efficiency is important as it is the upper limit to the final tracking efficiency
Chris: we need to check pile up effect in p+p collisions and check how it affect the seeding. Tony/Haiwang: important effect to check. Right now focusing on initial reconstruction of the progressive tracking patter reconstruction software.
INTT clustering issues - Tony Frawley
Summary: debugging a cluster position problem in INTT, which trace down to Stepping action interface of Geant4 for the silicon tracker
Suggest overlap check, 3-strip hits, and check PHG4SiliconTrackerSteppingAction::UserSteppingAction().
Jin volunteer to help debugging if useful.
TPC clustering - Carlos Perez.
Summary: TPC group is preparing next generation of software for TPC simulation.
Chris: current TPC use 40 cylindrical layers to segment Geant4 track into readout layers. Concern that edge effects by assigning hits into fixed layers. Suggest use a single volume in Geant4 and apply a step limit in Geant4 to segment the Geant4 track into steps. Drift and accumulate charge for each step. Carlos: At this stage, plan to use the cylindrical geometry for now. Summary: suggest keep this effect in mind, and make effort to move to single Geant4 volume following Chris' suggestion.
Carlos: for new TPC reconstruction, parameter and digitization classes, which repository path should they be added Tony: suggest put the new class under simulation/g4simulation, and prepare in separate the reconstruction modules to offline/package later (after MAPS review and establish of new patter recognition software).
Tony: summary for organizational meeting for tracking software, https://indico.bnl.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2964
