Hi Anne,

the slides look nice, but it would be very important to discuss the forward instrumentation as well. In particular, the EMCals are planned to be reused PHENIX PbSc with new readout and MPCs and the the HCAL is developed together with STAR and EIC RD with interest by RIKEN to construct it. That should make clear that this is not necessarily such a big investment from DOE.
Also, it would be good to show some physics plots for forward physics. Personally, I would suggest the Collins plots (azimuthal asymmetries for hadrons in jets) to access high x transversity and the DY signal and background breakdown plot vs mass.

Cheers,

Ralf

Hi,

I’ve uploaded a draft of my talk for tomorrow here:

I thank Megan for her nice slides from Tuesday which were very helpful.

A couple of points:
--I wasn’t sure exactly what to say on the timeline so I took the run plan as the timeline which has physics in 2022. I will attend Tim’s talk this afternoon and perhaps change my slide if he has a slide that addresses the sPHENIX timeline given the budget constraints

—I wasn’t sure what to do for the forward LOI either so I clipped a couple of Christine’s slides which address the key physics and the proposed upgrades

Comments are welcome. The talk is at 9:30 tomorrow morning at BNL and is scheduled for 30 minutes including questions.

Best,
Anne
