Friends,
Please find attached the report from the July Director's review of the MVTX project. As you will see, the committee was quite impressed by the presentations and overall project status. Some sample quotes:
"..the scientific case for the MVTX detector is compelling and the program dramatically enhances the physics capabilities of sPHENIX."
"The conceptual design for the detector is technically sound and it will very likely meet or exceed the expectations for the program. The choice of MAPS sensors is excellent, and dovetailing the sPHENIX stave
assembly sequence onto the end of the ALICE assembly line ensures a cost effective program."
While there is a long road ahead, this is a good time to thank all the contributors for their hard work, from the MVTX detector team to the heavy-flavor topical group! Special thanks to Ming, Grazyna, Bob
and of course Maria for guiding the review preparations! As the committee clearly recognized, this is a key subsystem for the RHIC physics program in the 2020's, and as a collaboration we'll provide every effort to make it a reality!
Cheers,
Gunther and Dave
