All, (sorry for the PHENIX/sPHENIX cross-post)

people following my "One tunnel to rule them all" instructions in

https://www.phenix.bnl.gov/WWW/offline/wikioff/index.php/The_ultimate_tunnel_setup_for_internal-only_Web_access

to get at logbooks, timecards, and also the free journal subscription
services will have noticed that you are now getting re-directed to a
warning page.

The following instructions WILL NOT help you with the logbooks and
BNL-internal pages, but will restore your access to the journals.

This has nothing to do with the RCF change but with an unrelated
ITD-side change. This was announced and planned, and ITD promised to set
up an equivalent service. They may have forgotten how much we rely on
this - your favorite CSAC representative has clearly communicated the
need - and it is possible that they are working on it. I am not
currently at BNL to find out.

I seem to have lost the ability to edit the wiki, so here are interim
and somewhat ad-hoc instructions to restore your free journal access.

a) You likely followed
https://www.phenix.bnl.gov/WWW/offline/wikioff/index.php/Ssh_access_to_internal_machines_the_easy_way

see point 2). Edit the file and change it to (replace "yourself" with
your username as before)

> Host rcas20*
> HostName %h.rcf.bnl.gov
> ProxyCommand ssh -F $HOME/.ssh/config_gw
yourself AT rssh.rhic.bnl.gov nc -w7200s %h %p
>
>
> Host *.bnl.gov
> ProxyCommand ssh -F $HOME/.ssh/config_gw
yourself AT cssh.rhic.bnl.gov nc -w7200 %h %p

The now 2 lines reflect the new gateway landscape. Also note the
different "-w7200s" vs "-w7200" settings - no idea why it would be
different between the gateways. Oh well. Only the first line is relevant
in this context.

b) open your FoxyProxy settings and change the relevant proxy to a
"SOCKS5" proxy, and if available check "DNS through SOCKS5 Proxy", as
shown in the attachment.

c) pick a particular rcas machine. Your gateway script or command now
becomes

ssh yourself@rcas20XX -D 3128

(just e.g. rcas2064, no ".rcf.bnl.gov")

And you are back in business.

I will talk to ITD next week to see what the proxy status is, and update
the wiki once I have access back.

Martin
