Dear All,

Here are the minutes from the sPHENIX general meeting today, Jul 13.

---------------------------------

-------------
Collaboration news
-------------
- CIAE (Prof. Xiaomei Li) has admitted to sPHENIX
- Late 2018, collaboration meeting at FSU will be held.
---> More people are encouraged to join the doodle poll for fixing date.
Need concluded date and headcount soon.
- S & C review was held on Jul 1. It was productive review, but we obtained
encouraging comments.
- Another S&C review will be held next year, before CD-2.
- Review committee requested to clarify the resource needs of organized
analysis.
- Committee also suggested that the discussion with CADs to optimize
the beam parameters is concluded by the end of 2018 (not likely).
- Task force for inner detector optimization is formed to tackled the review
charge of #9; a report is expected from the group in Fall.
- PAC report was very positive for sPHENIX.
- Tim Hallman pays a lot of attention on the sPHENIX (see EMCal part
of the slides)

-------------
Junior EC member election
-------------
- Haiwang was elected last year. Megan's term is expiring.
- Planning junior events as well as tutorial sessions, organized by the
junior members.
- Those "junior" not signed up to the junior list, please sign up and vote.
- Right now, three candidates: SookHyun, Veronica and Xu.
- Statements from the candidates are on agenda, but will be sent to the
sPHENIX list later today (Actually, it was sent during the meeting).
- More junior are encouraged to attend the collaboration meetings.

-------------
MVTX review
-------------
- Agenda for the MVTX review on Jul 19-20 is fixed.
- Slide 4: half barrel will be assembled at LBNL, and then shipped to BNL.
The chart is a bit confusing. it may be helpful that the place that the
work is conducted (LBNL, BNL, etc).
- Radiation level is hard, but may be not a problem. ALICE's test result
convinces that it works at sPHENIX.
- Ming thinks that the slides are ready for reviewers preview.

-------------
Project news
-------------
- Provided all the responses to DOE on all OPA recommendation.
- We are hoping CD1/3A approval coming very soon.
- Schedule frozen in Jan this year is now unfrozen.
- Plan to practice EVMS starting Nov-Dec this year. Monthly report will be
uploaded to the DOE database. The format is strictly defined. Irina is working
on this.
- 3D animation of the sPHENIX detector including installation will be useful
for collaboration?
- 1008 infrastructure and facility upgrade, as well as INTT and MVTX will be
subject to reporting very soon.

-------------
Update on inner detector integration
-------------
- With INTT and MVTX, the detailed schematics are now produced and
shown. Cable and cooling was properly included now.
- The plan will be shown at the MVTX review.
- Possible time scale to develop a final design will be ~ 1 year.

-------------
AOB
-------------
- There was so-called "EIC retreat at 1008" here at BNL yesterday.
- It was to figure out how the sPHENIX as it is useful as day-1 EIC detector.
- Elke, Jamie, Nils, Thomas presented materials.
- The idea of having the meeting was to form a packaged idea of having a
detector the EIC from the BNL point of view.
- The consensus in the end was that the sPHENIX could do a good physics
at day-1 EIC run.
- Several concrete action items came out, but it was not clear who will tackle
these items.
