    Dear all,

I am very pleased to announce that this afternoon the DOE ESAAB

committee recommended that sPHENIX be approved for CD-1/3A.

Once the ESAAB recommendation document is signed by DOE Officials, we will

be an approved DOE project. It has been a long and often arduous trip getting

to this point. It was over six years ago that Barbara Jacak asked Jamie, Dave

and John to lead an effort to plan a new detector for building 1008. Since then,

dozens of people have contributed to bring us to this point. Congratulations

to all involved. Your hard work paid off.

Congratulations to all the project team members for all their hard work and professionalism. The HQ Energy Systems Acquisition Advisory Board (ESAAB) has recommended approval of CD 1/3A. Official signed ESAAB approval documents should be signed by tonight or tomorrow. I will send the approval documents to you as soon as I receive them.

Congrats to all
