What You Will DoThe Physics Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory invites outstanding applicants for postdoctoral positions in the High Energy Nuclear Physics team of the Subatomic Physics
Group (P-25) to work on SpinQuest with a polarized target (E1039). LANL is the lead institution on the experiment E1039 which will measure the Sivers function of the sea-quarks using the 120 GeV beam from Fermilab’s Main Injector. The successful applicant
is expected to be stationed at Fermilab for the first 2 years and acquire the skills needed to take on a leading role in E1039 tasks, which may involve one or more of the following: online monitoring, operation/maintenance of the drift chambers, trigger system,
target operation, data acquisition as well as the physics simulation and analysis. The candidate must have or expect to complete soon a Ph.D. in physics, preferably in high energy nuclear or particle physics, and it must be less than 5 years since the Ph.D.
was granted. The postdoctoral term is for 2 years, with an option to renew for a third year.

What You Need
- experience with data analysis tools typically used for nuclear and particle physics - experience with detector operation and R&D - paper publication record in high energy nuclear physics or particle physics Desired Skills: - good oral and written communication - FPGA programming, or willingness to learn FPGA programming - Experience with slow control system like EPICS or LabVIEW Education: The applicant is required to have a Ph.D. in high-energy particle or nuclear physics within the past five years, or soon to be completed. Notes to Applicants: Applicants should submit a resume and a brief description of research interests to the online application page. Reference letters will be asked at a later stage of the selection process. This position does not require a security clearance, U.S. citizenship or residency. Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
