Friends,

the final report from the software and computing review in early September is 
attached to this mail. As you can see, the report is rather unusual. It 
contains 17 recommendations, with a number of them addressed to various BNL 
entities, rather than the collaboration. Some of the other recommendations 
don't appear actionable or connected to the charge. We went through several 
rounds of discussions with the committee and BNL management, which did not 
result in a significant change of the report.

We will work with the computing plan task force to address recommendations 
related to workforce support from BNL/NPPS, with the goal of reaching an 
agreement with BNL by January (following our upcoming S&C weeklong workfest). 
Obviously, we will discuss our S&C plans at the workfest as well, as they 
relate to the recommendations or not.
