Hi Xiaochun
Thanks for the test! The The Mattermost MAC apps probably work better for chatting too.
Cheers
Jin

Dear Jin,
These are great tools. A quick test of Mattermost on my Mac Pro found that it does not work well with Safari but looks nice with Chrome.
Cheers, Xiaochun --

Hi Everyone
We are writing to announce two new sPHENIX software services, thanks to the support by Scientific Data & Computing Center (SDCC) at BNL.
Mattermost is an open-source, self-hosted, secure Slack alternative for communication. We have been evaluating using Slack service for sPHENIX, which are particular useful for instance remote discussions, test beams and workfests. However, Slack incur steep cost when accessing chat history. This problem is solved by Mattermost, which is hosted by BNL and we have the ownership of chat data. The 40k messages on the test Slack service will be imported to Mattermost very soon too.
Welcome to start using by login with your RCF account at https://chat.sdcc.bnl.gov/sphenix . Welcome to install Mattermost Mobile & Desktop Apps , which can be also used for CERN communications.
JupyterLab is a popular web interface for modern data science. We are glad that both C++ and Python flavors of the sPHENIX software are integrated to the SDCC JupyterLab service. It is useful for the final stage analysis, integrating documentation, code and result plot in a notebook. Example uses are TPC 2019 test beam analysis, as discussed in this tutorial.
Welcome to login with your RCF account and start with the tutorial: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/tutorials/tree/master/JupyterLab . First login will include a setup a for two-factor authentication via smartphone.
Please give a try and let us know there is any suggestion or question.
Cheers
Jin & Chris

As we approach the conclusion of 2019 and look forward to the coming year, the SDCC would like to thank you for your cooperation and contributions to the success of our computing mission throughout the past year, and to wish you and your families a joyful holiday season. We are excited to offer you an opportunity to test some of the new services we will provide to our users, as our facility expands to continue to meet your computing needs: BNLBox BNLBox is a cloud storage service that enables BNL users to store their scientific data and documents locally, and makes those files accessible and available from anywhere in the world with internet access. The files stored in BNLBox can be easily shared with other BNLBox users, as well as with external collaborators. You can find more information about using BNLBox here: https://www.sdcc.bnl.gov/#storage And you can register for and use the service here: JupyterHub The SDCC offers multiple JupyterHub instance and back-end combinations for different users and accounts. You can find out about SDCC Jupyter hosting, requirements, and how to get started here: Mattermost Mattermost is an open-source, self-hosted, secure Slack alternative for communication. Mattermost is hosted locally on the BNL site, features unlimited conversation history, and supports TLS encryption using AES-256 with 2048-bit RSA on all data transmissions between client applications and the Mattermost server, along with on-disk data encryption. You can learn about this service and how to start using it here: https://www.racf.bnl.gov/docs/services/Mattermost We encourage you to try these new services, and to provide feedback to help us improve them and make them even more useful to you. As always, please contact us if you have any questions or suggestions: https://www.sdcc.bnl.gov/#support
The SDCC team.
