Dear sPHENIX Collaborators,

Everyone is aware that there is a worldwide concern about the ongoing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).  We would like to express our concern for all our colleagues, as many are in areas that have been deeply affected by COVID-19, both directly and indirectly.  We'll do our best as a collaboration to accommodate the various difficulties that this situation presents.

Below you'll find a message sent by the NPP ALD Berndt Mueller regarding travel by BNL staff and also visits to BNL.  In addition, here is a link to an article posted to the BNL web site on February 28 with additional details about visiting the Lab:

Take care,
Dave and Gunther

Dear members of the Nuclear and Particle Physics Directorate,

RE: COVID-19 Travel Advisory:

In addition to today’s travel directive from Lab management, all NPP staff is encouraged to seriously consider postponing or canceling all inessential international and domestic travel until further notice, and to opt for remote participation in meetings, conferences, and reviews whenever possible, in order to minimize the risk of infection with the COVID-19 virus. While there is currently no mandatory guidance for countries other than China, Iran, South Korea, and Italy, similar guidance for other countries could be issued at any time, and traveling staff could be affected by such measures. NPP management advises to err on the side of prudence and caution. All NPP staff who believe their travel is essential to their BNL duties, are requested to discuss their travel plans with their respective department chairs.

The same advisory applies to all users, visitors, and guests, both domestic and international, who currently plan to travel to BNL in the near future. BNL hosts are requested to contact any users or visitors they are aware of and discuss the feasibility of postponing their visit or to replace it with videoconferencing or other remote participation.
