Dear Colleagues,

Like all of us, we the Hot Quarks Organizing Committee have been
monitoring the COVID-19 situation very carefully and with great
concern. In light of the planned HQ workshop on August 4-11th in
Colorado, USA, we are considering holding it at the same venue at a
later time this year. We are aiming to make a final decision regarding
moving the workshop dates in about a month, when hopefully much more
is known about the development of the pandemic (and the corresponding
projections for later in the year). We are currently not in favor of
having an online workshop on the original dates. The main reason for
this is one of the most important missions of the workshop is to
foster scientific interactions and develop future relationships
between the younger members of our field. We are of the opinion that
such a choice would severely compromise that workshop mission.

We have also decided to extend the abstract submission and
pre-registration deadline by three weeks: it is now April 24th. We
believe this extra time is needed, so those interested in
participating can make a more informed choice. For those interested,
please submit an abstract and pre-register on our website:

https://indico.bnl.gov/event/7770/

Again, please be aware the workshop dates might change to a later time
in the year. We very much welcome any questions or comments, which can
be directed to hot-quarks-organizers AT cern.ch. We kindly ask you to
distribute this email within your collaborations and local groups.
Finally, and most importantly, we wish everyone in our community our
very best given this extremely difficult time.

Sincerely,

The Hot Quarks 2020 organizing committee
