Last recent talk: AUM2020

Next talk: Initial Stages

Mock data challenge - Camelia

Summary: brainstorming for the HF TG tasks in the coming MDC

Jin: for the one analysis for each TG to complete in this MDC, what is the criteria?

Camelia: for TG to figure out the priority of analysis

Camelia: do we have QAs?

Jin: yes for basic performance checks. Suggest run with production, e.g. https://web.racf.bnl.gov/jenkins-sphenix/job/sPHENIX/job/test-tracking-low-occupancy-qa/640/QA_20Report/

MDC input Q1: What is the input event you need to do your analysis?

A1: DST objects

Ming: shall we also produce pDST?

Camelia: good to include to test output

Jin: we can run them at the analysis stage, and usually it is specifically formatted for specific analysis

Cameron: For KFParticle, analysis root files are regularly exported

Jin: past production also included standard eval files during production. Plausible for part of production too.

MDC input Q2: What is # of events you would need for different aspects of analysis?

A2: see first talk slides

Camelia: 10M Hijing events expected anyway for fake jet study

Camelia: we expect the analysis completes in three months, so please pick the topic and arrange manpower accordingly. The analysis sample is expected to be available in Jan. We can further submit a wish list of simulation samples for future productions.

Camelia: a useful guideline of topic choice -- what would be the first analysis

Jin: probably something with high cross-section (year-1 Lumi is limited) and has a peak (easier to control systematics), so something like prompt and non-prompt D meson analysis.

Camelia/Jin : we should adjust goals reflecting lower than final inner tracker tracking efficiency.

Hideki: how long the data would be available for analysis

Camelia: will refresh until next MDC.

Next: Volunteer on analysis manpower and analysis topic welcomed. The coveners will pick the topic and poke the analyzer candidate offline.

Running KFParticle and report of user experience - Ming

Summary: Testing KFParticle as implemented by Cameron with Zhaozhong's B_s simulation data sample

Camelia: vertex probability was found very useful at CMS analysis

Cameron: current implemented/output 2ndary vertex volume. We also implemented but not yet output vertex chi2 which will add later.

Ming: will also try D0 jet correlation

Jin: B_s mass constraint with daughter particle at PDG mass?

Cameron: yes

Camelia: which of this list would be a good 1st-day measurement

Ming: various B decay channels would be quite interesting

Jin: D0 channels would have sufficient cross-section x branching ratio for initial runs which also provide cross-check with published RHIC results.

Camelia: documentation page would be critical for continuity of knowledge

We are very sorry that there is no time left to go through Zhaozhong's talk. Please comment offline or via https://chat.sdcc.bnl.gov/sphenix/channels/hf-bs

Subject: [ZOOM meeting & DST Change][Nov 2 Monday 7PM ET] bi-weekly heavy flavor topical group meeting

Hi Everyone,

This is a reminder that we will have our next HF topical group meeting on Nov 2 Monday 7PM ET. Please note the one hour shift due to day light saving ends in the BNL time. And we will switch to the ZOOM meeting this week.

The agenda will include:

- Brainstorming for make a productive use of Mock Data Challenge (MDC) for HF TG: All

- B_s update : Zhaozhong

- KFParticle user feedback: Ming/Cameron

Indico: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/9980/

ZOOM connection: https://bnl.zoomgov.com/j/1613938007?pwd=QjYzUnpYQ2xNZWZLSy9qd3Z4dFpzZz09

Besides the meeting announcement, if you would like to volunteer for any topic listed below or add any other one, please let us know.
