Dear sPHENIX collaborators,

In case you hadn't already hear this, you should know that, as of January 1, Dmitri Denisov is the interim BNL Associate Laboratory Director for Nuclear and Particle Physics (see below).  I don't have any insider info on long it might be before a permanent NPP ALD is brought on board.  However, Gunther and I will be meeting with Dmitri in a continuation of the ALD/spokesperson meetings we'd had with Berndt Mueller, so perhaps we can use that occasion to press for some clues!

Organizational Announcement: Associate Lab Director for Nuclear and Particle Physics

All,

As previously announced, Berndt Mueller, Brookhaven's Associate Laboratory Director (ALD) for Nuclear and Particle Physics (NPP), plans to step down from that role and return to Duke University, effective Jan. 1, 2021. I have asked Dmitri Denisov, currently the Deputy ALD for High Energy Physics, to step in as Interim ALD while an international search for Berndt's successor continues. I'm pleased to announce that Dmitri has agreed and will start on Jan. 1.
Dmitri has been at the Lab in his role as Deputy ALD since Feb. 2019. He came to Brookhaven from Fermilab, where he most recently served as head of the Particle Physics Initiatives Department and spokesperson for the DZero experiment. Dmitri holds a Ph.D. degree from the Institute for High Energy Physics in Protvino (Russia). Before joining Fermilab in 1994, he was a staff scientist at the Institute for High Energy Physics and the SSC Laboratory. I appreciate Dmitri's willingness to take on this increased responsibility.
I will announce the results of the ALD search as soon as it is completed.
Best wishes again to Berndt as he returns to Duke University after eight years at Brookhaven.
