Hi folks,
the old nx hosts in rcf will be retired on May 4th. The replacement service will now use otp tokens as dual authentication method which means you will not need an ssh tunnel anymore.
I followed their instructions to install the nx client which were straightforward. The only problem is that the nx enterprise client is buried in a submenu of the nx webserver, the prominent link on their home page is not the version you should download, you'll find it here at the bottom:
https://www.nomachine.com/download-enterprise
The otp token business is the same you need for webmail. Currently requires a smart phone (I have the google authenticator which works just fine) since the enrollment just display a QR code. The page also references a web based authenticator plugin for firefox (I have seen one for chrome as well) but this needs a string you can enter. I asked rcf to add this. I'll send an update when I hear back.
After setting up nx you need to log in once with your password (which can be saved in the client) and then it prompts you again for a password which is then the 6 digit number from the authenticator. All following connection attempts then just need the 6 digit code.
No more ssh tunnels for nx (and you can start it in your browser, though that was kind of slow for me)
Chris
