Hello All,

The tracking has reached a milestone as of this afternoon - namely we can now reconstruct tracks without the use of truth vertexing (or any other truth information).  In addition, the tracking reconstruction no longer relies on the association of a track with a vertex - tracks are completely stand-alone objects, and are only associated with a vertex after the fact.

There is still a lot to do. But, after more than a year of the tracking software evolving rapidly, it should be relatively stable in the future from the user's perspective. Also, the performance should reflect the detector performance, at least to the extent that our simulations do. This makes it an excellent time for the working groups to start seriously testing whether it will do what they need, and to push for any features that are missing. We will talk details at the Workfest.

But right now, I want to urge the working groups to propose simulations that would be useful for testing / developing analysis machinery at the Workfest. For example, what HF or jet signals would you like embedded in pp + pileup collisions, or in Hijing + pileup collisions? Chris has offered to run some small productions, so think in terms of thousands of files that you can use for analysis code development during the Workfest.

Cheers
Tony
