Subject: [Sphenix-l] EMCAL sector assembly complete !

Dear All,
I'm pleased to announce that the assembly of all of the sPHENIX EMCAL sectors is now complete. Sector assembly started more than two years ago and the last of the 64 sectors required for sPHENIX was completed last week. The entire EMCAL team here at BNL, led by L3 Manager Sean Stoll, as well the team at UIUC, led by L3 Manager Caroline Riedl, where all the absorber blocks were produced, worked relentlessly throughout the pandemic to complete all the sectors well in time for when they will be needed for installation into sPHENIX later this summer.

Last Friday we gathered members of the EMCAL team here at BNL who have worked on building these sectors for a photo in the Physics High Bay where all the final assembly took place. This is truly a tremendous accomplishment, both for the EMCAL and the sPHENIX project as a whole, and we would all like to wish Sean, Caroline and the entire EMCAL team a well deserved congratulations for achieving this important milestone.

Cheers,
Craig
