sPHENIX is a new detector at RHIC.

Hello Everyone,

 

As many institutions', and individual’s, involvement is beginning to transition from a hardware development focus to preparations for day one running, we are wanting to organize a short sPHENIX summer school. This school is currently being planned to be held at BNL (hybrid over zoom) for two days directly following the collaboration meeting, May 26^th and 27^th. This school will be split over two days with one focusing on providing a wider overview of the complete sPHENIX detector system, and the other focusing on physics interests and ongoing efforts/needs for the various topical groups, as well as a software tutorial to help attendees become familiar with the sPHENIX computing environment. In addition we anticipate a talk from the DE&I committee, and we plan to arrange a visit out to 1008 to see the under construction sPHENIX detector, as well as a casual dinner to enable attendees to get to know one another. This will be a great opportunity for new students or post-docs, as well as those who are transitioning from hardware projects, to become familiar with sPHENIX as a whole and become more involved in preparations for day one running.
