Dear collaborators,
We are organizing a follow-up discussion to the Year-1 Physics discussion started at the Collaboration Meeting. We’d like to have the discussion on August 26 at noon EDT.
For this meeting, we are requesting a short presentation from each of the Au+Au relevant TGs (Heavy Flavor/Quarkonia, Jet Structure, Flow/Bulk) stating their first 2-3 physics analysis priorities for Year 1. For each analysis please include on a slide:
• which sub-detectors are required
• what are the expected dominant systematic uncertainties, and how will they be determined
• which calibrations are needed (including centrality, event plane)
• MC needs beyond that which is currently available
• what is the minimum luminosity necessary for the measurement to succeed?
We would like this input from the TGs to be circulated to the collaboration one week prior to the meeting (August 19).
For this process, we would ask the TG conveners to not focus on the timeline for releasing results, but only what the first analysis priorities are. From the information provided we would construct a spreadsheet of proposed analyses and what inputs are necessary. Please also note that we are not asking to not have names/institutions associated with these analyses at this time.
In addition to the presentations from the TGs, we would also like to have input from:
• Commissioning Task Force (15 minutes)
• Calibration Task Force (15 minutes)
• Computing/Simulations (15 minutes)
This input should be in response to the presentations from the TGs - concerning the timing, challenges, or needs for the various inputs (production, data quality, calibrations, MC, etc.)
Please let us know if there are questions.
Best,
Anne & Dennis
