Dear Sasha, Ralf, and Sanghwa,

(I am sending one reply to both the PHENIX and sPHENIX lists).

Thank you for your efforts representing PHENIX and sPHENIX in drafting this
White Paper, and I hope these comments can still be helpful even though they
are a day late.

General comments:

- I think that some mention of sPHENIX before the Appendix is important.
Currently L 812 in the Appendix mentions "key opportunities for cold QCD
measurements" at sPHENIX, but there isn't a single word about this elsewhere.

- In addition, in a similar spirit to much of the "Polarized High-Energy
Proton Beams" section, text could be added about experience gained through
sPHENIX that will be valuable to the EIC--experience with MAPS and streaming
readout come immediately to my mind.

Below I have some additional minor comments on the document.

Christine

L 72 - "charged hadron identification"- I believe this means electron vs.
hadron separation, rather than pi/K/p identification. The text should be
clarified.

L 133 - Should this be 68 pb^-1 per week?

L 185 - Run-XX still needs to be filled in.

L 268 - "in addition, it is smaller in the center of the bunch" - Is this
referring to the polarization value itself, or to the variation in
polarization across different parts of the bunch?

L 636-7 - "which will allow a complete understanding of the underlying QCD
mechanism" - While the 2022 and 2024 forward TSSA measurements will be highly
valuable, I think this statement is too strong.

L 641 - "leptons" -> "electroweak products" or something similar.

Trivial typos (through p. 7):

L 33 - "maximmal" -> "maximal"

L 136 - "signicant" -> "significant"

L 152 - "pand" -> "and"

L 153 - "spinsalong"

L 180-181 - "fi" missing and line break

Dear All,

As a part of LRP campaign, a group of people from both STAR and (s)PHENIX has
accomplished the WP draft for RHIC Cold QCD program, see attached. (s)PHENIX
was represented by Ralf, Sanghwa and Sasha B. The document is planned to be
sent to the LRP writing committee.
We'll be happy to get any suggestions/concerns you may have on the draft,
before Jan 23.

Thanks,

Sasha for the WP writing group.
