Dear sPHENIX Colleagues,
I am very happy to announce that as of this week the sPHENIX
project construction is complete. That includes the MIE detector
components, the 1008 facility upgrades as well as the MVTX, INTT,
TPOT.... I have attached photos of the test closing of the
magnet north and south pole tip doors from today.
This email is not to claim that all of our work is done. We still need
to get BNL/DOE permission to flow gas to the TPC and TPOT,
and cool down our magnet. There is a huge amount of detector
and DAQ commissioning ahead of us as well as the installation of
the sEPD over the next few months. We also have about 50 "safety"
action items to address from the various BNL safety committees
that roam the lab.
However we have reached the stage where all installed detector systems
are cabled, plumbed and powered. All racks are ready to go. The shield wall
is up and all the ancillary systems, including the safety systems, are operational.
And we are on 24/7 shift.
Thanks to everyone who made this happen.
Ed
