Thanks, that will be very helpful! I will try to assemble the presentation today, as I will be traveling most of the tomorrow and the STSC presentation is on Friday morning.

HI Gunther and Dave,

We will put together a few plots about MVTX.

Cheers,

Friends,

We were asked last week to present an "sPHENIX update" at this week's BNL Science and Technology Steering Committee meeting. The presentation has now been confirmed for Friday, July 7, at 9:30AM and will be 30+10min. We mentioned on several occasions last week that this would be a good opportunity to present new or updated material on the commissioning progress. We probably did not stress the importance of this meeting sufficiently - this is BNL's most important advisory committee, the talk has been requested by the new BNL director and the meeting will be attended by essentially all of BNL leadership. The meeting is not open to the public, which affords some discretion in the material to be shown, but obviously we want everything to be correct.

Could we ask all the subsystem leaders and commissioning experts again to consider which plots and event displays could be added to the list of approved material to make sure we put our best foot forward and do justice to the enormous amount of work that has been done over the last weeks and months and...?

From last week's physics coordination meeting, it seems that a number of new plots should be close to ready
- TPC event display with magnet on, z_vtx in a reasonable location
- ZDC/calo correlation
- an update of the pi0 plot
- first MVTX plots demonstrating data readout (and beam halo)
- INTT possible on the verge of location collision vertex?
- ....

A stretch goal that would leave a big impression would be a HCAL or HCAL/EMCAL event display showing a dijet-like collision event. We certainly have taken enough data to expect a number of high pT jet events to be among the collected data. Having such an event display by the end of this week would be much more valuable than having it in a couple of weeks from now.

Any plots that show the beginning of the data reconstruction process (calo clusters, topo clusters, track seeds, hit correlations in the silicon detectors would be valuable.

Please let us know if you have additional suggestions for material to be included. The expert committee will surely understand that we are right at the halfway point of our commissioning effort, but we should expect to be asked about basic parameters, such as live channels for each subsystem, readout rates achieved and total commissioning data collected. Please make sure to compile any information along these lines.

It is certain that we will need support from BNL leadership and this committee in the future, let's try to put on a good show.

Best,

Gunther and Dave
