Dear colleagues -

The 2023 National Society of Black Physicists annual meeting will be co-hosted by UTK and ORNL.  Most of you are at what are called "Primarily White Institutions."  You may think that you do not have very many students who identify as Black - however, nationwide, there are still only around 250 African Americans who earn bachelor's degrees per year.  (That is not a typo.)  That means that what seems like not very many students might actually be a significant number.  I have been attending NSBP meetings with our students and I can attest to how significant attending can be for them.  I give attending NSBP credit for a few of our students graduating.  Attending with our students has also made me a better mentor for all of our students.

All that is to say please send your students to NSBP!

Thanks
Christine
